Archbishop Bernard Moras demaned CBI inquiry on Church attacks
Bangalore : Bishop Bernard Moras termed Justice Somashekara Commission report as highly communal, propagandist. And also accused that this report deliberately absolves the persons and organizations responsible for attacks as mentioned in the Interim Report. Since the Commission’s Highlights of the Final Report has failed to address the terms of reference of the commission and had failed to do justice to the Christian Community of the Karnataka, entire Christian Community, unanimously reject this Commissions Report he said.
Karnataka Region Catholic Bishops Council & Karnataka United Christian Forum for Human Rights today decided to reject Justice Somashekara Commission report on Church attacks.
Bishop Bernard Moras also demanded State Government to handover the inquiry immediately to CBI, as demanded in the beginning, inorder to bringout the truch on Church attacks and Violence on innocent people in the churches. He also demanded State Government to withdraw all pending cases related to the church attacks against the innocent individuals, and especially the youth.
Bishop Aloysius Paul D’Souza, Bishop of Mangalore urged that the culprits to be identified and necessary legal actions are initiated them as per the law of country.
Rev. Dr. Bernard Moras, Archbishop of Bangalore and also the President of Karnataka United Christian Forum for Human Rights briefed press today along with Bishop of Mangalore Bishop Aloysius Paul D’Souza, CSI Bishop of Bangalore Rev. Bp. Vasanth Kumar.
While rejecting the report, Archbishop Bernard Moras assured that entire Christian community will commit to maintain and further foster the tenets of secularism, pluralism and harmony with deep respect to all faiths and heritages.
Bishop of Believer’s Church Bishop Samuel Mathew, President of FCCO Rev. V.M. Samuel, Vicar Generals of Bangalore Archdiocese Msgr. S. Jayanathan and Msgr. C. Francis, PRO of Karnataka Regional Catholic Bishps Council Fr. Faustine L. Lobo was also present at the press conference.
